The coolest tree ever
This has got to be one of Portland’s mostest and coolio-est tree in all the land……..it’s a Strawberry tree in case you were wondering.
Google it, as trees go, fascinating. A sort of edible fruit, which is so red, it almost looks “fake”. The fruit is a super round “strawberry”, that is rather tart to the taste, so websites say, yet jams and licquers and other delights can be made from the fruit.
This particular tree happens to be in Goose Hollow, call it 17th and SW Jefferson street, then a 1/4 block to the east. You can’t miss it, and you can usually find parking right in front of it.
I’ve been under this tree during the warmer months and winter months too. The warmer months under it is especially delightful, I’ve kicked up my feet with my beach chair, my Kindle Book, and I get a few pages in from time to time. But even on a nasty, windy, rainy day, this tree just makes me smile every time I see it.
The tree is placque’d, so it certainly has a history to it, I often wonder what stories it can tell. The story for me, is it’s beauty in such an urban area, and it’s sure elegance too.
